Fairview Cemetery



The funeral for Jerry Duane Guffey, 58, of Lahoma, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at First Missionary Baptist Church, Enid. Pastor Alfred Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Fairview. Viewing and visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and prior to the service at the church on Friday.

He was born May 26, 1951, in Enid to Leslie L. and Peggy L. Brown Guffey and died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He grew up in Booker, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He attended Texas A&M and then joined the Navy in 1974, serving on the USS Casimir Pulaski as a nuclear power plant operator. He was honorably discharged Aug. 11, 1977. He then returned to Fairview, where he worked at Al's AML Grocery store. He also worked for Major County EMS and served as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Fairview. In 1978, he went to work for the city of Fairview as an electric supervisor, retiring in 1997.

He married Carol Ann Farrand Standifer Aug. 14, 1981, in Dallas. He was a member of American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Ann, of Lahoma; seven daughters, Cassandra L. McConnell of Mooreland, Patricia Kincheloe of Vian, Bonnie Guffey, April Guffey and Kimberly D. Haley, all of Enid, Tammy Walborn of Cherokee and Bree Guffey of Lahoma; three sons, Jerry D. Guffey II and Archie Ray Farrand, both of Cleo Springs, and Brandon Ray Guffey of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; one brother, Larry Guffey of Longdale; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jerry Guffey memorial fund.
