Graveside services for Barbara K. Carey, 75, of Fairview, Oklahoma will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Travis Schmidt officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday evening at Pierce Funeral Home, 721 S. Main, Fairview, OK.
Barbara was born October 31, 1947 at Corona, California to parents Myron and Pearl (Martin) Schafer. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a sudden and unexpected illness.
Barbara was raised in California and met the love of her life, Allan "Al" Carey in 1963. They were married in 1965 and enjoyed 55 years together before Al's passing in 2020. Barbara worked for Sears in California, and drove a school bus for Fairview schools before owning and operating Carey Monument Company in Fairview.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Al Carey; brother Larry Schafer; nephew Jason Schafer; She is survived by two sons, Jeff Carey and wife Sheilah and Chad Carey both of Fairview, OK; granddaughter Amanda Werneke and grandson Cole Carey; two great-grandchildren and other extended family.
Memorials are suggested to the Fairview M.B. Church with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737. Condolences may be offered at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
