Funeral Services for James Russell Braley, 71, of Enid will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Central Christian Church in Fairview. Reverend Doyle Warren will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

James Russell Braley was born March 12, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma to James Humphrey and Margaret Esther (Rigsby) Braley and died March 18, 2015 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jim grew up in Fairview during his younger years. His parents moved to Tulsa and Jim graduated there with the Class of 1962. Following high school he attended Oklahoma State University for one year and then transferred to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He joined the Army National Guard and was activated into the US Army where he served his country for one tour in Vietnam. Jim returned to the states and continued in the National Guard for ten years. Jim went back to college at SWOSU in Weatherford, OK where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Later Jim returned to college earning his Masters in Counseling and Psychology in 1972. Jim married Bonnie Murphy on May 25, 1974 at Grace United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together, Jim and Bonnie raised five children; Mark, David, Lori, Lisa and Jamie. Jim served in many districts as a school counselor for 27 years then entered into administration for more than 16 years.

Jim was a very active member of The Vine Church and a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed camping along with fishing and hunting. He loved all of his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was spoiling them and his beloved wife, Bonnie.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Enid, OK, sons; Mark Braley of Norman, OK and David and wife Shelley Braley of Broken Arrow, OK, daughters; Lori and husband Dr. David Macarty of Shawnee, OK, Lisa Poteet and fiancée Matthew Wells of Broken Arrow, OK and Jamie and husband Billy Shaw of Weatherford, OK, one sister, Patricia Hight of Oklahoma City, OK and twelve wonderful grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Fairview Central Christian Church or OMRF – Heart division with the funeral home acting as custodian.
