Funeral services for Daniel Ray Petty, 81, of Enid, will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Cleo Springs Cemetery in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Dan was born February 28, 1941 in Webb City, Missouri to Clarence Lee and Irene C. (Pierce) Petty and died September 8, 2022 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma. Dan's mother passed away when he was only 18 months old and he was placed in a boy's home for a short time. His grandparents, Sam and Bessie Petty took custody of him when he was 2 years old and raised him in Cleo Springs on the Family farm. He graduated from Cleo Springs Highschool; Dan went to work doing odd job until he was drafted into the United States Army. He spent 5 years in the Army and most of that time he was stationed in Germany.
After he was Honorably Discharged, he returned home and went to work in Southard Oklahoma at the U.S. Gypsum Plant and then went to work for Failing as a Machinist. On June 14, 1969 Dan married the love of his life, Linda M. Harms and they began their life together. They were soon blessed with their son Steven in 1970 and then their daughter Kristy Marie in 1972.
Dan loved the outdoors and started his own business, Dan's Yard Maintenance, and ran it for many years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved wood working, fishing, and most of all his church. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Dan was preceded in death by his: parents, grandparents who raised him, Sam and Bessie Petty, three brothers, Leroy Greer and twin brothers Ben and Bill Greer, two sisters, Betty Jean Danner and Dorthy Greer.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his: wife Linda of the Home, one son, Steven Ray Petty and wife Betty Ann, one daughter, Kristy (Claire) Marie Fuxa and her husband Bradley Scott, One brother Frank Petty, two sisters, Suzy Necessary and Frances Petty, and five grandchildren. Dan also leaves a special family member, Renate Ford and her four children as well as many Nieces and Nephews.
Memorials can be made to the House of Prayer Church or OMRF Heart Division with the funeral home acting as custodian.
