Roy Dean was born August 10, 1948, in Fairview, Oklahoma, to Richard C. and Martha (Jantz) Nightingale and died Monday, May 5, 2014, at his home in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Roy Dean grew up in Fairview, OK graduating from Fairview High School in 1966. Following high school he went to work for Reuben Nichols laying tile. Roy Dean met Kathy Becker and they married in 1975. This union was blessed with three children; Charles, James and Bonnie. He continued laying tile and at Reuben’s suggestion, went out on his own in the tile business. And for the next 30 years he worked all over Fairview and Major County. Every row of tile he laid was as straight as a plumb line! When his health failed he had to give it up. When he was younger he loved to go fishing. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle as well as raising rabbits and a good garden with lots of watermelon. Roy Dean was a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, children; Charles and Molly Nightingale of Madrid, Nebraska, James and Debra Nightingale of Hinton, Oklahoma and Bonnie Nightingale of Fairview, OK, brother, Loyd and Janet Nightingale of Montezuma, Kansas, sisters; Evelyn and Jerald Koehn of Fairview, OK and Ruth Nightingale also of Montezuma, Kansas and four grandchildren; Cassandra, Leah, Trey and Carl Nightingale.
