Fairview – Ross R. Riley, 97, died Thursday morning, December 20, 1984, in a Fairview nursing home. His funeral will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
Riley was born at Leota, Kansas, December 6, 1887, the son of Henry Newton and Catherine Groves Riley. The family moved southwest of Fairview in 1896.
Riley and Maude Ling were married December 18, 1910, in Major County. They lived and farmed southwest of Fairview until moving to Fairview in 1970. Mrs. Riley died May 2, 1973. He had lived in the Fairview Fellowship Home since 1975.
Riley is survived by a son, Allen R. Riley of Wakita; three daughters, Mrs. Johnny (Ruth) Martin and Mrs. Raymond (Ruby) Woods, both of Fairview, and Mrs. Fred (Alice) Martin of Longdale; 15 grandchildren and 31 great – grandchildren. Riley was preceded in death by a daughter Zora, three sisters and two brothers.
Memorials but be made to the Fairview Hospital Foundation, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
