The family moved back to the Fairview area when Delbert was 6 months old. He went to Fairview Schools and graduated in 1958. He then returned twice to fill the teaching job until another instructor could be hired. Delbert did substitute teaching for two different classes for many years after that. He took a night class of stained glass in the fall of 2002 and fell in love with it, producing numerous projects for family and friends.
