Ames Cemetery



January 24, 1898 - January 5, 1918

Died, at the home of his father, R. O. Wright, at Monett, Missouri, Saturday, January 5, 1918, Floyd Wright, aged 19 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Floyd Wright was born in Henry County, Missouri, January 24, 1898. When he was three years old his parents moved to this part of Oklahoma, first living on the John Edwards farm east of the city. In 1910 his parents moved to Beaver County where they made their home until November when his father moved to Monett and he went to Detroit, Michigan, to attend school. He had come home on a visit his father when his death occurred very suddenly with suffocation from an attack from asthma.

Floyd was an honorable, upright Christian young man of sterling worth and was entering man's with courage and hope for success. His was a happy disposition and highly thought of and held the confidence of all who knew him.

The body was brought to the home of his uncle, J. M. Sims, by his father Sunday, January 6, and the funeral sermon was preached at the Christian church by elder Harlen, Tuesday, January 8, 1918, and the remains were laid to rest in the Ames Cemetery.

He leaves a father, three brothers, his mother and sister preceding him to the Great Beyond, many relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
