Graveside services for Glenn B. (Biggen) Turner, 74, of Ames, will be at 3 PM Sunday in the Ames Cemetery with the Moose Lodge conducting the services. Services under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born May 26, 1922 in Ames to Alva and Bessie Cunningham Turner and died early Friday in Integris Bass Health Center. He grew up in Ames, graduating from Ames high school, where he played football. He was a veteran of World War I I, serving with the U. S. Navy. On April 10, 1943 he married Dortha Weathers. He was a member of the Jayne – Kennedy American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He worked in oil fields as a driller for 15 years, and later worked for Garfield County District 3, where he retired in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Dortha of Ames; three daughters: Joyce Bayhylle and husband, Myron, Glenda Fields and husband, Robert, all of Perkins, Oklahoma and Teresa Fiala and husband, Mike of Enid; a son, Alva Randall (Randy) Turner and wife, Cindy of Wheatridge, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 15 great – grandchildren; three brothers: Esthaol Turner of Hutchinson, Kansas, Raymond Turner and A. I. Turner both of Ames; two sisters: Ella Pistol of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Ida Scoll of Norman. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, an infant sister and two great – grandchildren.
He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, especially as great – grandchildren.
Memorials may be made through the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home to the Ames Cemetery Association or the Ames Fire Department.
