The funeral for Jack L. Mason, 85, of Ringwood, was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Ringwood High School gymnasium. Tom Hardiman and the Mason family officiated. Burial with military honors by the American Legion Jaynes-Kennedy Post 340 was in Ames Cemetery. Arrangements were by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

He was born March 20, 1923 northeast of Ames to C.C. and Ethel L. Morton Mason and died January 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Ames High School in 1941, then attended Enid Business College. He married Betty Louise Ratzlaff Dec. 28, 1944, in Meno. In 1943, he joined the Army at Fort Sill. He was stationed in Tachikawi, Japan, three years, then El Paso, Texas, and various other posts. He was honorably discharged from what had become the Air Force. He returned to Ames, where he owned and operated the Texaco station two years.

He began farming and custom harvesting and raising cattle. He worked in grain elevator construction. He started 3M Dozer with his son, Butch, in 1976. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Jaynes-Kennedy Post 340 and Lions Club. He held office in the Arkansas Fiddlers Assoc-iation. He was an honorary member of the FFA.

Surviving are his wife, Betty of the home; four children, Marcia Mason Blom, Jerry Mason and Sue Mason, all of Ringwood, and Butch Mason of Meno; one brother, Bob Mason of Yukon; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant sister and one brother.

Funeral service for Betty L. Mason will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at Ringwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jody Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow at Ames Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family is 5-7 p.m. today, March 19, at Henninger-Hinson Chapel.

Betty L. Mason, 89, of Enid, passed away Monday, March, 16, 2015, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid. She was born in Ringwood, Okla., on June 30, 1925, to Cephas R. and Pauline Wright Ratzlaff. Betty L. Mason, 89, of Enid, passed away Monday, March, 16, 2015, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid. She was born in Ringwood, Okla., on June 30, 1925, to Cephas R. and Pauline Wright Ratzlaff. Betty graduated from Ringwood High School. She married Jack L. Mason on Dec. 28, 1944. They lived in the Ames and Ringwood area until 2010, when she moved to Greenbrier Assisted Living in Enid. She and her husband lived in various locations in the United States and Japan, while Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Air Force).

Betty worked in a POW camp in Alva following high school and later worked at Meno Guaranty Bank. She prepared meals for the family’s harvest crews during the months they traveled from Oklahoma to North Dakota on summer wheat harvests. She enjoyed traveling, being with friends and family, reading the newspaper and eating out. She attended bluegrass and country music festivals with her husband and enjoyed seeing friends at those festivals.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; daughter, Sue Mason; and brother, John R. Ratzlaff.

She is survived by three children: daughter, Marcia Mason Blom and husband John, Ringwood; son, Jerry and wife Julie, Ringwood; and son, Byron “Butch” and wife Diana, Meno. She is survived by nine grandchildren, Tim Mossman, Gaithersburg, Md.; Chaney Mason Hale, Yukon; Lori Mason Dankenbring, Edmond; Jacque Mason Roberts, Ringwood; Martin Mason Tomlinson, Silver Spring, Md.; Matt Mason Enid; Ashley Mason Hardison, Ames; Mark Mason, Meno; and Katy Mason Nelson, Meno; and 14 great-grandchildren.
