October 20, 1845 - March 10, 1917
David Mallory was born at Clinton, Vermilliion County, Indiana, October 20, 1845, and passed away at his home near Ames, Oklahoma, March 10, 1917, aged 71 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
He was married at Ottumwa, Kansas, to Miss Adelpha Smith in 1872. To this union were born twelve children, eight sons and four daughters, two of the sons preceding the father to the better world.
The surviving children are; John of Udall, Kansas, William and Perry of Southard, Oklahoma, Harrison of Pretty Prairie, Mrs. Mary McCracken and Albert of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Mrs. Fannie Miller near Ames, and Elmer who is at home with his mother.
David Mallory was a Union Soldier in the Civil war, serving in Companies E and F, 123rd Illinois Infantry.
He was converted in early manhood and united with the Methodist Church and was a firm believer in the the Gospel all of his life.
One had to know Mr. Mallory very closely to fully appreciate his sterling qualities and true worth. A fond and devoted husband, an indulgent father and a kind friend and neighbor has gone to join the innumerable throng on the other side.
The funeral, which was held at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Williams, was one of the largest ever in Ames, and spoke of the high esteem in which Mr. Mallory was held by his friends and acquaintances.
The wife and family have the sincerest sympathy of the community in this sad hour of affliction.
