Celebrating her 91st birthday with her Heavenly Father, Mary “June” Mackie met the Lord September 14, 2012.
June was born September 15, 1921, to Thomas and Goldie (Burden) Schindorff in Kansas City, Missouri. The celebration of June’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gail Edmison officiating. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery in Ames, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
On October 17, 1940, she married Harold R. Mackie in Wellington, Kansas. To this union, four children were born: Bert Harold Mackie, Enid; Beverly June Mackie Bierig, Okeene; Bobby Leon Mackie, Ames; and Jackie Joe Mackie, Enid. On October 17, 1940, she married Harold R. June was blessed with an extraordinary God-given talent in the culinary arena. Eating always was a social event at the Mackie house.
June enjoyed entertaining, and everyone knew they were always welcome at her dining room table. She loved to feed! June would bless people with her talents of cakes, pies, cookies, delicious meals, etc. June never met a stranger. Everyone who met her loved her instantly. June was an active member of Ames Christian Church, Ames Women’s Auxiliary organization, Happy Home Extension Club and Wheatheart Nutrition program. June also volunteered at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
June is survived by her children, Bert and Janice Mackie of Enid; Beverly and Joe Lee Bierig of Okeene; Bob and Tommie Mackie of Ames; and Jack and Jackie Mackie of Enid. June was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves behind one brother, two sisters and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was joined together in heaven with her husband, Harold, of 46 years, and one sister.
To honor June’s life, memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ames Fire Department.
