The funeral for Coleen (Dennis) Herde, 77-year-old Enid resident, is 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in the Temple Baptist (Graceway ) Church. Her sons, Bryan and Darrel, and Pastor Kevin Strope, will officiate. Burial follows in Ames Cemetery, under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. A visitation with family is 5:30-7:30 p.m. this evening, Sept. 16, 2016, in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel.

Coleen (Dennis) Herde passed away peacefully in her sleep, into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Oklahoma City, after a protracted illness.

Coleen was a lifelong area resident, born in 1938 in Ames to Max and Isabell (Walmer) Dennis. She grew up and attended Drummond schools. She married Morris Herde in 1955, with whom she had four children. Until her retirement in 2015, she was employed by Dennis Plumbing as office manager for nearly 30 years, preceded by employment for many years at Benge Plumbing, and a time as church and missions secretary for Washington Avenue Bible Church. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, as well as garage sales, decorating and eating out.

Coleen was preceded in death by her father, Max Dennis, in 1982; brother, Leon Dennis, in 2014; and daughter-in-law Cindy Herde in 2015.

She is survived by her mother, Isabell Dennis, of Enid; as well as her sons Bryan (Gayle), Centennial, Colo.; Mark, Chandler; Darrel (Michal), Republic, Kan.; and daughter, Susan Harrison (Robert), Aurora, Colo.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Angela, Amanda, Adam, Shyan and Robert Jr. (Robby). She also has seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Loaves and Fishes of Northwest Oklahoma.
