December 25, 1918 - September 11, 2021

The funeral for Isabell "Toots" Christina Dennis, 102-year-old former Ames resident, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Darrel Herde will officiate. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest nest to her husband. Visitation with family is Friday evening from 5-7. Regular visitation is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Isabell was born December 25, 1918, at a home west of Ames, Oklahoma, to Roy Zeno Walmer and Fannie Russell Walmer. She passed away on September 11, 2021, at her home in Blanchard.

Isabell attended Ames Public Schools. She met and fell in love with Max Edward Dennis. They were married on March 1, 1938. They had two children, Coleen Isabell Dennis Herde and Leon Edward Dennis.

Isabell and her husband Max farmed in areas around Ames and Drummond. They built their home in 1956. She lived in that home, even after moving it 13 miles to just outside the Enid city limits, until November 2020. In November she moved to her new home in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

She loved gardening, and growing vegetables were her favorite. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was famous for her peanut butter cookies, fruit cocktail cake, and lemon bundt cake. She especially enjoyed hosting the family Thanksgiving dinner for 69 years at her home. Isabell wanted to thank everyone for the kind and thoughtful things you have done for her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Fannie (12/1923); her Father, Roy (2/1961); Step-mother, Charlotte (Lottie) Rebecca Doty Walmer (10/1973); Husband Max (11/1982); sister, Edith Russell Miller Walton; sister, Alta June Wood (4/2021); daughter-in-law, Karen Dennis (6/1998); Son, Leon Dennis (11/2014); and daughter, Coleen Herde (9/2016).

She is survived by her brother John (Buck) Walmer; eight grandchildren: Bryan Herde (Gayle), Mark Herde, Darrell Herde (Michal), Susan Herde Harrison (Rob), Shawn Dennis (Susan), Max Dennis (Melissa and Daughter Avery), Earl Martin (Rebecca), William Martin; several great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marla and Tendercare Hospice as well as Hospice Circle of Love.
