The graveside service for Elizabeth Elnora Denning will be 11:00AM Monday, June 27, 2016 in Ames Cemetery. Reverend Tom Holton will officiate. A visitation with family will be 3:00-5:00pm Sunday, June 26, 2106 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel.
Elizabeth Elnora (Elly) Denning, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Las Cruces, New Mexico on June 22, 2016. She was born in Elm Creek, Nebraska on March 6, 1927 to Wilmer Clifford Peterson and Georgia Edith (Beavers) Peterson. She was married to Ervin Dean Denning on October 9, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lonnie Denning in 2005, husband, Erv in 2008, and brother, Arlund in 2015. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Denning, Tulsa, OK; son, Terry Denning and his wife, Jodi, Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Deana Howey; grandson, Matt Anderson and wife, Mindy; four great-grandchildren, Carys Howey, Cruse Howey, Madison Anderson and Mallorie Anderson.
Elnora and Erv were active square dancers for many years, and they loved country western, gospel and polka music. Elnora enjoyed arts and crafts, playing cards and mahjongg. After retirement from Arco Oil & Gas, where she worked in the seismic department, Elnora and Erv enjoyed several years of traveling in their R.V. She moved to Las Cruces in 2009, after Erv passed away, to be closer to her son, Terry. She also enjoyed living in the Trails West senior community, where she had many friends. She was artistic, and enjoyed making flower arrangements for her church and for friends.
Arrangements were entrusted to Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, Enid, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to University United Methodist Church, 2000 S. Locust, Las Cruces, NM 88001.
