September 5, 1886 - December 29, 1947
Mervin Clyde Crawford, who suffered a stroke last Sunday morning as he listened to the radio, passed away at his farm home Monday morning.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Ames school auditorium. Rev. Wallace Linton of Hennessey officiated, with Rev. Earl C Barr of Ames assisting in the service. interment was made at the Ames Cemetery.
Mervin Clyde Crawford, son of Thomas J. and Annie Crawford, was born in Clark County, Mo. September 5, 1886. he departed this life at his home southeast of Ames Okla. December 29, 1947, at the age of 61 years , three months and 24 days.
He was seven years of age when his pain parents came to Oklahoma from Clark County, Mo. , at the opening of the Cherokee strip and settled on a farm seven and one half miles south east of Ames, where he had resided until his death.
His father, mother and one sister preceded him in death. Although handicapped by an affliction, Clyde lived an industrious, honest and upright life and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances.
He leaves to mourn his departure, Four Brothers, Earl, Raymond , Glen and Lester all of Ames and one sister Bertha Lee of Waukomis; nine nieces and ten nephews,, nine great nieces and seven great nephews , and a host of other relatives and friends.
Although the chair has been vacated , may we look forward that someday, somehow , we will be reunited.
Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Snyder of Kaboca, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Garland Snyder and baby of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Veda Snyder of Purcell Oklahoma.
