Ames Cemetery


June 12, 1932 - December 31, 2010

Funeral service for Virginia Mae Cooper, 78, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gail Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery under the kind direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Virginia was born June 12, 1932, in Romance, Mo., to Floyd and Radie James Garner and passed away at The Commons on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. She grew in the Ava, Mo., area and in the early ’60s she landed in the Enid area. She grew in the Ava, Mo., area and in the early ’60s she landed in the Enid area. She married Ola Ray Cooper Aug. 10, 1951, and they made North Enid, Ames, Enid and Ava, Mo., their primary homes. He passed away July 26, 1984. She was a waitress at many of the Enid area restaurants, including Three Towers (North Enid), K-Bob and Sage Room. Virginia moved into the Methodist Home in February 1997, living there until she passed away.

She was a lady who enjoyed life the most by caring for others. She enjoyed quilting, raising calves in Missouri and giving care and direction to all her kids, grandkids and other family friends.

She is survived by sons, Ben Cooper of Enid and Clifford and wife Juanita Cooper of Lahoma; stepsons, Terry Cooper of Kansas and Danny Woodruff of Ohio; two brothers, John and Joe Frank of Missouri; one sister, Nancy Parker of Kansas; seven grandchildren (Toni, Ray Lee, Elizabeth, Rachel, Brian, Tanya and Scott); 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles Ray Cooper, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.
