The funeral for Madalyn Cooper, 85, of Ames, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Church of Christ of Ames. John Sheffield will officiate. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Drummond to Joseph and Maud H. Burner Poindexter and died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at her home. She graduated from Ames High School in 1941. She married Victor Cooper Sept. 6, 1944, in Drummond. He died in May 1978. They lived in Colorado from 1954 until 1963, when they moved back to Ames where she had lived since. She served as town clerk for Ames and was a member of Ames Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, Eugene Cooper of Ames, Gerald Cooper of Florida, and Clayton Cooper of the home; two brothers, Orin Poindexter of Enid and Alvin Poindexter of Longdale; three sisters, Margaret Norris of Durant, Iantha King of Woodward and Wyvonna Myers of Yukon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Victor, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ames Church of Christ.
