The memorial service for Ervil“ Ervy” Georgia Ballard, 89 year-old Enid resident will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2PM in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Pullin will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Ames Cemetery.
Ervy was born March 25, 1922 in Blackburn, Oklahoma to William and Rosa Walker and passed through to heaven at sunrise Saturday, September 10, 2011. Her favorite time of day. Ervy met the love of her life Scott Ballard and married on December 16, 1938. Together they owned and operated Ballard Plumbing and Heating until his death in 1964. Ervy worked at Shoeland, The Booterie, then made her home at Simpson’s Mercantile in Enid for 25 years, retiring at the age of 75. You may remember her behind the counter with her glasses on a chain, her trademark.
Her smile won your heart and she lived her life for her Lord and her children. She rejoiced in heaven with her husband Scott, her son David, her brother Billy, her sister Dolly and son-in-law Tennis.
Surviving and celebrating her life are: Loretta Musick, Virgil Ballard and wife Michelle, Dennis Ballard and wife Chris, Connie Duffy and husband David and her special daughter-in-law, Linda Allison. 8 graandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. They called her “Mammer”.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to OMRF ( Cancer or Heart Division).
