The funeral for John T. Briggs, 74 year-old Enid resident is 10:00AM Monday, June 24, 2024 in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. A private burial will be in Ames Cemetery. A visitation with family is Sunday, from 3PM-5PM.
John was born December 11, 1949 in Tulsa, OK. to John and Mary (Hermanski) Briggs and died suddenly on Sunday, June 16, 2024 in Okeene Hospital. He grew up in Taloga, Oklahoma with his three sisters and one brother.
He began working in the U Bank water rig in Libya until unrest sent him back to Oklahoma where he continued working with Fairview Casing Co. as a tool-pusher. He later worked with MepCO for 20 years and retired from ADM Milling.
On October 5, 1979 he married Lisa Marie Turner and the couple had three children. John was an avid fisherman, hunter, woodcarver and tinkerer with old cars. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his ex-wife Lisa of Pond Creek, his children; Jonna Jones and fiancee Lee of Enid, Jacob Briggs and wife Cassandra of Stillwater, and Josie Herl and husband David of Enid. Grandchildren; Christopher, Timothy, Bryson, Kayzlie, and Logan. Three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made in John's name through the funeral Home.
