Christopher James Hayes

Services for Christopher James Hayes, 34, of Wilson, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, at the River of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Wilson, with the Rev. Jim Duck and the Rev. Jason Williams officiating.

Interment was in the Vernon Family Cemetery, Wilson.
 
Born October 8, 1973 at Vernon, Alabama, the son of James Lester and Deborah Mae Vernon Hayes, he died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Snellville, Georgia.
Raised in Wilson, he attended Wilson Schools, graduating in the Class of 1992. Mr. Hayes had been attending college at East Central University on track to receive his bachelor’s degree in vocation rehabilitation in December of 2008 with future plans to work as a visual service counselor. Being very achieved in his study, Mr. Hayes was most recently acting as an advocate spokesman at the Oklahoma Capitol for Oklahomans with Disabilities. His life, however, was his children and family, cherishing every moment with them. Mr. Hayes was an avid outdoorsman who lived to fish and hunt. He was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Coonhunters Association. Mr. Hayes also was a very talented musician, able to play any instrument. To those who knew him, Mr. Hayes was a very opinionated person, never showing any false impression. He just told what was on his mind. Chris will be missed by all who knew him for his many talents, his humor, and his caring nature. He was a member of the River of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Wilson.
 
Survivors include two beloved children, Davis And Daelyn Hayes; parents, James and Debbie Hayes of Ardmore; a sister and brother-in-law, Kasie and Scott King of Ardmore; two brothers and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Cassidy Hayes of Bethlehem, Georgia, and Lucas Hayes of Norman; maternal grandfather, Melvin “Smooth” Vernon of Wilson; paternal grandmother, Ruth Hayes of Vernon, Alabama; nieces and nephews, Karson, Kaden and Kahner Green, Maegan and Carter Hayes, and Bailey and Conner Scott King; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Meady Mae Nipp Vernon in 1999, and paternal grandfather, Jr. Hayes in 1993.
 
Pallbearers were Daniel Vernon, Lee Vernon, Brad King, Corey Ponder, Cody Ponder, Dillon Vernon, Caleb Vernon, Mike Vernon, Josh Hayes and Cody Raper. Honorary pallbearers were David Vernon, Dale Vernon, Dennis Vernon, Dean Vernon, Clifford King, Danny Bray, Jim Menke, Billy Henson, Darin Smith, Wade Sherburn and Justin Gold.

This obit included a picture of Mr. Hayes.
