followed at Simon Cemetery.
Born August 15, 1945, at Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Roy Don and
Katherine E. Leach Young, he died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his
residence.
Jim was raised at Handley, Texas attending school at Eastern Hills
High. He volunteered into the U.S. Army, serving honorably for five
years as a Sergeant specializing in artillery. During his military
service, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Lawton. He met Sharon Faye
Russell on a blind date and soon after they were married at the Rubottom
Baptist Church on January 30, 1970. They made their home in Bedford
where they resided the last 50 years. Jim was employed for Xerox for
over 44 years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed hunting in his early years
and being an outdoorsman. He was a member of the Woodland Heights
Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Sharon on January 26, 2009;
parents, Roy and Katherine Young; sisters-in-law, Linda Lawson and
Martha Greer; and brother-in-law, James Greer.
Survivors include his beloved sons, Jimmy Young and wife Kristine of
Fort Worth and Tim Young and wife Tammy of Magnolia, Texas; sister, Jane
Skinner and husband Ron of Whitehouse, Texas; brother, Jerry Young of
Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Garrett, Travis, Clayton, Thad and
Tye; sister-in-law, Georgia Holland and husband Jerry of Marietta;
brothers-in-law, Bill Russell and Joe Russell, both of Leon; and
numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Serving as pallbearers were Garrett Young, Travis Young, Clayton
Young, Thad Young, Jerry Lawson, Chad Holland, Willie Russell and
Chancey Greer. Honorary bearer was Randy Skinner.
