William “Derek” Nipp, 59-year-old lifelong Simon Community resident, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Simon Cemetery in the Simon Community of northwest Love County, Oklahoma, with Jackie Hartman officiating. Services have been entrusted to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta, Oklahoma.

Derek was born on May 25, 1967, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Beth (Staples) Nipp. He grew up in the Simon community and spent much of his younger years fishing and riding horses. Derek loved the outdoors and spent countless hours coon hunting. He was a kind-hearted family man who loved spending time with his parents. Derek and his father spent countless hours working together on cars, trucks, and tractors. He also had an artistic side and was a self-taught guitar player. Though he didn’t read music, he could play just about anything after hearing it only a few times. Derek found joy and purpose in many things throughout his life, but perhaps what he cherished most was spending time with family and friends. He also shared a special bond with his faithful dog, “Dozer” who was his constant companion through the years.

Derek was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Nipp, and his brother, Eric “Clay” Nipp.

Those left to cherish Derek’s memory are his mother, Beth Nipp, of the home; his nieces and nephew, Erica, Caly, and Kyle Nipp; his great-nephews and great-niece, Jayke, Maddyn, and Kynslei Haynes; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers are Lee Vernon, Jay Goode, Kyle Nipp, Jayke Haynes, Maddyn Haynes, and Brian Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Turpin, Miles Goode, Quintin Nipp, and all of his cousins.
