Services for Albert Joseph York, 92, were Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Texas. Officiating was Rev. Milton Pledger.
Mr. York was born June 20, 1904, at Waco, Texas, the son of Julius L. and Nancy Smith York, and died September 27, 1996, in the Gainesville Memorial Hospital.
A retired farmer and rancher, Mr. York was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. He and the former Essie Trantham were married July 20, 1943, in Tulare, California.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Essie York of Gainesville; four sons, Arie York and Roy York of Tulare, Doyle York of Anaheim Hills, California, and Donnie York of Las Animas, California; two step-sons, Cliff Jones of Oak View, California, and Lowell Jones of Paso Robles, California; a daughter, Shirley Etheridge of Thackerville; a sister, Altie Davis of Gainesville; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Interment in New Hope Cemetery was under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Blakey, Gerald Moore, Doug Tuck, John Reasor, Cass Reasor and Glenn Nehib.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 2125 Burns City Rd., Gainesville or Rev. Marvin Lancaster, 1316 S. Clement St., Gainesville.
