Submitted by: Martha N. Reddout |
A graveside service for Porter Love Washington, former Marietta resident, was
held October 22, at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with the Rev. Scott Gordon
serving as the officiating minister.
Born May 18, 1912, in Marietta, the son of Russell Love and Edna May Askew
Washington, he died in Los Angeles, California October 6.
Mr. Washington moved to Sweetwater, Texas with his mother while in high school
in Marietta and resided there for a time before moving to California where he
met his wife, Lucy Estelle Doheny.
Mr. Washington enjoyed fishing and fowl hunting almost as much as he enjoyed
touring the dog show circuit with his wife, "Dickey", and their Keeshounds, of
which they were world-renowned breeders. He operated a kennel in Lawndale,
California near their home in Beverly Hills.
In speaking of his grandfather, Zachary W. Griffin, Ventura, California, said,
"He always held his Oklahoma heritage in high esteem."
He is survived by his wife and children, Cynthia, Michael and Larry, as well as
five grandchildren.
