Graveside services for Irene Faye Whitmore, 90, of Overbrook, were held at 2:30
p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the McAlister Cemetery, with Major Wesley Short
officiating.
Mrs. Whitmore was born September 23, 1910, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of
Calvin and Myrtle Sweat Cloar. She died Friday, March 16, at her residence in
Overbrook.
She had been a resident of this area for most of her life. A graduate of
Ardmore High School, she had worked for both Daubes and S.H. Kress co. for many
years. Mrs. Whitmore as a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, the
Love County Home Demonstration Club and the First Christian Church. She and
Harry Whitmore were married April 18, 1933, in Ardmore and he preceded her in
death October 6, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Whitmore of Ardmore; four grandchildren,
Marilyn Ashcraft, Sam Whitmore, Christi Reeves, and Shelly McGlocklin; and 10
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitmore was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Perry
Cloar and Leroy Cloar; a sister, Marie Dunn Johnson; and infant twin sisters.
Services were under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, Ardmore.
