Services for Helda Wilson were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Faith Chapel Church of
God in Christ in San Diego, California, with Elder Roy Dixon officiating.
Mr. Wilson was born at Ran on November 2, 1916, the son of Frank and Sedell
Shephard Wilson, and died September 13, 1999, in a hospital in San Diego
following an extended illness. He and Lula Edding were married in Yuma,
Arizona, in 1939. They are the parents of 12 children. The family moved from
Arizona to San Diego in 1960.
A certified carpenter, Mr. Wilson continued in this profession until his
retirement. He was licensed and ordained into the ministry in 1941. Mr. Wilson
was a longtime member of Faith Chapel Church of God in Christ.
He is survived by his wife of the home in San Diego; 12 children, Ermel
Gueston, Charles Wilson, Ernestine Wilson, Yula Wilson, Fannie Wilson, Helda
Wilson Jr., Nettie O'Neal, Sedell Branch, Perry Wilson, Priscilla Canady,
Martha Dixon and Kathy Beton, all of San Diego; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-
grandchildren.
Among his survivors are many nieces and nephews including Perry Halstied,
Lovetta Douglass, Dorothy Lornes and Etta Halstied, all of Marietta, and Willie
Halstied-Kirk of Ardmore.
Services were directed by Anderson-Ragsdale Funeral Home with interment in the
Cypers View Mausoleum.
