Graveside services for Johnny Gene Underwood were at 2:00 p.m. March 4 in the
Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Ronnie Carroll.
Born January 25, 1943, at Ringling, Mr. Underwood worked in the oil fields for several oil companies, including Jones Oil Company as a roughneck and driller. In December 1989, he became employed by the Oklahoma Department of
Transportation at Waurika, retiring medically in August 1997. Mr. Underwood had
also served in the U.S. Army from November 1961 until November 1963.
He is survived by a brother, Aaron Underwood of Ardmore; three sisters, Emma Elkins of Huffman, Texas, Gloria Lemons of Marietta, and Belle Paul of Altus.
Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his father on February 5, 1969; his mother on June 11, 1995; two brothers, Richard in 1969 and Billy Joe on June 23, 1995; and a sister, Wynell Stewart in 1996.
Services were directed by Alexander Funeral Home - Ringling. Bearers were Tracy Lemons, Jason Lemons, Vance Paul, Danny Underwood and B.J. Culwell.
