Services for Clyde Allen Taylor, 75, of Falconhead were conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Falconhead Christian Fellowship Chapel with Rev. Roger Willard officiating. Graveside services with full military honors followed at 2:30 p.m. in the Ft. Sill Cemetery, Lawton.
Mr. Taylor was born November 30, 1916, in Goldthwaite, Texas, and died October 13, 1992, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. He was the son of Joseph O. and Julia Wesson Taylor.
A resident of Falconhead since 1981, Mr. Taylor moved there from Lawton. He retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service, in which he served in Italy during World War II where he received the Purple Heart for wounds received. He retired as a Captain then worked for 12 years as an instructor in Communications and Electronics for the Signal Corps.
He married Polly Golson August 25, 1938, in Anson, Texas. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Falconhead Christian Fellowship Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and the Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Polly Taylor of the home at Falconhead; a son, Gene Taylor of McGregor, Texas; two brothers, Curtis Taylor of Clyde, Texas, and Joe Taylor of Gustine, Texas; three sisters, Virgie Cox of Stamford, Texas, Arlie Gandy of Bethany, and Lucille Gugua of Conroe, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a son, David Taylor, who died in January 1966 while serving in Vietnam; and a brother.
Services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Duggan Barnes, Tom Stevens, Wayne Smith, V.T. Trachta, Bill Brannan, Dan Sheehan, and Lloyd Hawthorne.
