Services for Veda I. Pool Stevens, 93, of Ardmore, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Dr. Glen Pool officiating.

Mrs. Stevens was born October 24, 1907, in Oswalt, the daughter of Jay C. and Maude Knight Pool. She died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Southbrook Healthcare Facility in Ardmore.

A resident of Ardmore most of her life, Mrs. Stevens was the bookkeeper for the M.M. Wallace Cleaning Plant in Ardmore for 30 years, retiring in 1955. She married Ervin W. "Bud" Stevens on January 1, 1929, and he preceded her in death April 12, 1984. Mrs. Stevens graduated as valedictorian of her graduating class at Marietta High School and then attended Gonder Business College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore.

Survivors include a sister, Hazel Simmons of Ardmore; two brothers, Lynn Pool of Marietta and Ben Pool of Midwest City; four nieces, Marjorie Jones, Linda Lewis, Veda Jean Sheppard and Judy Ann Pool; two nephews, Jay Pool and Jim Pool; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Stevens was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, M.G. Pool, Jimmy Pool and Earl Pool; and a sister, Emma Cooley.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
