Rev. John Philip Sales, Sr.

Services for Rev. John Philip Sales, Sr. were Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Southgate Pentecostal Holiness Church in Moore.

Born February 9, 1927, in Stratford, the son of Tom and Nellie Sales, Rev. Sales died September 25, 1999.

Rev. Sales served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Prestolite after 35 years. He ministered in the Pentecostal Holiness Church until his retirement. Rev. Sales pastored at the Light House Evangelistic Ministries in Marietta for two years. He served as the pastor of Southgate Pentecostal Holiness Church in Moore from January 26, 1957 to July 31, 1995. An avid fisherman, Rev. Sales also enjoyed traveling. He and Elsie Eggar were married February 14, 1948, in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Sales of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, John P. Sales, Jr. and Cathie of El Reno; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Michael Player of Boston, Massachusetts; a sister and brother-in-law, Tommy and Kenneth Nell of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. Sales was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sandra Andrews.

Services were under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, South Oklahoma City location.
