Services for Juanita Helen Smith, 84, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Bro. Travis Huffman officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born November 12, 1918, in the Ark Community in Love County, the daughter of William Preston and Ruby Lee Walker Rhoades. She died Sunday, January 12, 2003, in the Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
A homemaker, Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Love County most of her life. She and Vernie Smith were married January 18, 1942, in Marietta. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1975. Although she made her home in Marietta most of her life, during World War II she lived in Oklahoma City and worked at Douglas Aircraft. She had also been employed at the Cookie Factory in Marietta for nine years. She was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Imogene Rhoades of Marietta; two nephews, Mike Rhoades of Edmond and Mark Rhoades of Duncan; and a niece, Judy Wright of Arlington, Texas.
Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers were Claude Brannan, Dale Hallum, Monroe Thompson, Duane Hicks, Tim Hicks and Allen Woody.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
