A celebration of the life of George Leslie "Doc" Savage, 72, will be held from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 4, at the Love County Fair Building.
Mr. Savage was born November 22, 1927, in Ardmore, the son of William Thomas
and Gladestine Childress Savage. He died Sunday, October 29, 2000, at his
residence northeast of Marietta.
He attended school in Ardmore and Dickson. In addition to Oklahoma, Mr. Savage
made his home in Texas, New Mexico and Kansas, always enjoying his life. He and
Earlene Flint were married on May 16, 1953, in Madill. Mr. Savage retired as an
employee of the City of Ardmore on December 31, 1991. He was of the Baptist
faith.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene Savage of the home; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Jim and Susan Savage of Okarche, Ronnie and Lea Ann Savage of
Marietta, Larry and Nancy Savage of Graham, and Kathy Savage of Marietta; one
daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Ben Denny of Marietta and Jim Houchin of
Ardmore; one sister, Wanda Owens of Liberty, Mississippi; one sister-in-law,
Betty Savage of Ardmore; grandchildren, Shannon and Karla Houchin, Jeff and
Linda Houchin, Brad and Shena Houchin, Tommy and Billy Savage, Ben Denny, Rae
Lynn and Frank Duffy, Amber and Scott Williams, Chrisite and Jamie Westbrook,
Shana Savage, Kylene Savage and Cady Savage; great-grandchildren, Jonathan
Houchin, James Houchin, Kayla Houchin, Jami Houchin, friends of his life,
Raymond and Wilma Smith and Earl Mote.
