Services for LaWana Batson Rhyne were Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Mike Sampson officiating.
Born January 9, 1939, in Marietta, the daughter of W.T. and Violet Wilson Batson. Mrs. Rhyne died October 16, 1998, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.
A resident of Love County all of her life, she was a retired dispatcher from the Love County Sheriff's Office. Mrs. Rhyne attended the First Christian Church of Marietta.
Survivors include her devoted companion, Ray Grice of Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Claud and Cynthia Rhyne of Falconhead; a brother and sister- in-law, Bill and Dana Batson of Marietta; a grandson, Christopher Rhyne; and four nieces.
Mrs. Rhyne was preceded in death by her father on June 5, 1974; a daughter, Patty G. Rhyne on October 29, 1986; and her mother on July 25, 1997.
Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Hallum, Bobby Phillips, Wayne Rains, Lynn Puckett, Hulbert Sampson and Roy Rains. Honorary bearers included Jim Locke, Dr. J.T. O'Connor, Jr., Charles Clark, Fred Grice, Sr. and Bub Peery.
The family has requested that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
