Services for Gwen G. (Shaffer) Rueda, 58, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Thackerville Church, with Bro. Johnny Reed and the Rev. Aaron Easton officiating.
Mrs. Rueda was born August 25, 1942, at Marietta, the daughter of Paul and Elsie Sims Shaffer. She died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her residence in Marietta.
Mrs. Rueda had lived in the Marietta area most of her life, graduating from Thackerville High School in 1960. She enjoyed cooking and was a kitchen supervisor at Lake Murray Resort for 20 years. Mrs. Rueda was a member of the Thackerville Church.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chris and Bridget Bond of Idabel and Duane Carlisle of Weatherford, Texas; three brothers, Dan Shaffer of Tacoma, Washington, Gayland Shaffer of Marietta and Ellery Shaffer of Front Royal, Virginia; two sisters, Joan Miles of Marietta and Aleen Kretzschmar of Lewisville, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kayla Bond, Kasey Bond, Brandon Carlisle and Brianna Carlisle.
Mrs. Rueda was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, four sisters, and a nephew.
Serving as pallbearers were the men of Thackerville Church. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
