Services for Manuel A. Nix, 61, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Harris and Dr. Johnny Funderburg officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
Born on Dec. 1, 1940, in Eldorado to D.A. "Doc" and Audra M. Starwalt Nix, he died on Aug. 24, 2002, at the Ardmore hospital.
Married to Mary Ruth Culbert on June 5, 1969, in Eldorado, he moved to Marietta in 1970 and was a maintenance super-visor at Uniroyal before he retired after more than 28 years of service. As a member of Eastside Baptist Church, he served as deacon, choir member, and AWANA leader, youth assistant. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy, on Feb. 14, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Renea Cline, Whitesboro, Texas; son, Glenn, Glouchester, VA.; mother, Audra Nix, Marietta; brother, Wayne, Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be G.W. and Carol Flanagan, Thurman Vinson, Dale Harris, Richard Quisenberry and William Landrum. Honorary bearers are Tom Hill, Bobby Craig, Justin and Warren Nix, Brent Benson, Don Stewart and Uniroyal maintenance employees.
