Memorial services for Wesley Edgar Maier, 74, of Marietta were at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Gardner officiating.
Born November 24, 1925 at St. Joseph, Michigan to Rudolph and Daisy Boardman Maier, he died January 27, 2000 at his residence.
A resident of Marietta for the past two years, he had previously lived in Denison, Texas, having lived in Michigan prior to that time. He married Evelyn Gerberich on October 31, 1964 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mr. Maier was a retired carpen-ter and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Among his medals were the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was of the Protestant faith and a life member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Maier, Muskegon, Michigan; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Georgia Maier, Nocona, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Larry Lemons, Denison, Texas; and Brenda and Ed Olger, Ferrysburg, Michigan; a brother, Bob Maier of Baldwin, Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Maier was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Maier.
Services were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Claudine Hawkins, Lois Rouse and Patricia McCage.
