Services for Ovis D. Miller, 70, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Thackerville Church, with Bro. Johnny Reed and the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.
Mr. Miller was born July 12, 1930, in Leon, the son of C.W. "Crosby" and Nora Marie Dean Miller. He died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore.
Mr. Miller had lived in Love County most of his life. He and Edna Mae Turner were married on August 4, 1949, in Conway, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2000. Mr. Miller worked in the oil fields as a roughneck, retired from Marietta Sportswear after working there for 30 years, and was also employed at the I-35 Welcome Center at Thackerville, for three years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Mr. Miller was a member of the Thackerville Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Joe and Cecelia Miller of Ardmore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian Ruth and Truman Patty of Rubottom and Ova Gail and Mike Jolly of Simpson; five brothers, Alvis Tabner, Donald Tabner and Darrell Walker of the Fort Worth, Texas area, Keith Miller and Don Miller; six sisters, Johnnie Clannon of the Fort Worth area, Virginia Miller of Washington, Gardenia Miller of Sherman, Texas, Wanda Alexander of North Carolina, Kathy Miller of Lawton and Jerri Miller; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Clinton D. Miller in 1954 and Marion Prust in 1981; a brother, Dale Tabner in 1967; and a sister, Alva Mae Blevins.
Pallbearers were Tony Reed, Shane Patty, Shannon Patty, Brian Crosthwait, Earl Eubanks and Brian Paul. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Rains, Jimmie Romines, Roger Romines and Lee Wayne Seabourn.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
