Services for Opal B. McBride, 91, of Ardmore were conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Jimtown Baptist Church. Officiating was Dr. Walt Spradling.
Born January 11, 1908, in Montague County, Texas, Mrs. McBride died July 17, 1999, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore. She was the daughter of George and Rosanna McDonald Hicks.
Mrs. McBride had lived in Ardmore for the past 47 years. She and Sam J. McBride, Sr. were married in September 1924 at Jimtown. Mrs. McBride was a homemaker and had worked as a dietitian at Ardmore Adventist Hospital for six years. She was a member of CrystalRock Cathedral, Ardmore.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Elva and Don Jackson and Donna Fisher of Ardmore; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McBride was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 1956; two sons, Kenneth McBride in 1970 and Sam McBride, Jr. on March 18, 1994; five brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Ricky Hartman on May 19, 1997.
Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in the Leon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dusty Miller, Scott McBride, LaDonna Miller, Steve Marley, Gary McBride and Sherryl Marley. Honorary bearers were all of Mrs. McBride’s nephews.
