Services for Joyce F. Mauldin, 66, of Kingston, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, at the George J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Texas, with Pastor Blaine Tracy officiating.
Mrs. Mauldin was born November 28, 1936, at Gainesville, the daughter of Wiley and Lozenca Mack Westerman Duckworth. She died Sunday, October 26, 2003, as a result of a motor vehicle accident, two miles south of Whitesboro, Texas on Highway 377.
She and Pittman Mauldin were married on October 11, 1958, in Gainesville. She attended schools in the Cooke County area and had a long career in law enforcement, spending four years in Fairbanks, Alaska, and then as a member of the Sheriff's Department in Love and Atoka counties. She retired from the Whitesboro Police Department in 2002. She was a lifelong Christian and was dedicated to her family. It was her mission in life to be of service to anyone in need of help.
Survivors include her husband of the home; children, Ricky and Patti Mauldin of Thackerville, Jerry and Ramona Rauschuber of Valley View, Texas, Kelly Mauldin of Leon, Josh and Angie Riddle of Colbert, and Mack and Kristi Mauldin of Quitman, Texas; grandchildren, Rebecca Buess, Chris Mauldin, Rachel Mauldin, Courtney Shurbet, T.J. Shurbet, J.R. Robertson, Ashley Robertson, Tyler Mauldin, Elizabeth Zimmerman, Alex Mauldin, and Eric Mauldin; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Mauldin and Luke Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marty Mauldin; two brothers, R.C. Duckworth and O'dell Duckworth; one sister, Bennie Duckworth; and two grandchildren, Caleb Buess and Peter Eberle.
Pallbearers were grandsons Chris Mauldin, T.J. Shurbet, J.R. Robertson, Tyler Mauldin, Alex Mauldin and Eric Mauldin. Honorary pallbearer was Micah Buess.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, under the direction of George J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
