Services for Jane Elizabeth Mefford, 59, of Thackerville, were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, in the First Baptist Church of Thackerville, with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.
Mrs. Mefford was born April 16, 1943, in Lucerne, Missouri, the daughter of Lynn and Phyllis "Enslo Fish" Brummitt. She died Saturday, October 26, 2002, in Ardmore.
Raised in Unionville, Missouri, she and Glenn Richard Haynes were married in 1962 at Unionville. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1969. Mrs. Mefford moved to Oklahoma in 1977, then lived a number of years in New Mexico prior to moving to Thackerville in 1997. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Janie Haynes of the home; three daughters, Jenny Bailey of Ada, Glenda Hembree of Thackerville and Shawna Hitchcock of Lumberton, Texas; a son, Tommy Mefford of Marietta; a sister, Judy Anne Gillum of Las Cruces, New Mexico; two brothers, Gary Brummitt of Vichey, Missouri; and James Brummitt of Shelton, Washington; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Mefford was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Haynes in 1964; and a granddaughter, Tamara Burkhead in 1994.
Pallbearers were Charlie Hembree, Donald Bailey, Ben Teter, Adam Craft, Doug Mefford, Richard Jones and Tom Voyles. Honorary pallbearers were Rene' Heidemann, Truman Adams, Sheila Taylor, Robert Hitchcock and Christine Mefford.
Interment was in the Simon Cemetery in Love County, south of Wilson, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
