Services for Mattie Koonce, 92, were Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, Texas. Officiating was Rev. Tommy Higle, pastor of Marietta's First Baptist Church.

Born September 12, 1902, at Thackerville, Indian Territory, Mrs. Koonce died March 19, 1995, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. She was the daughter of Walter and Annie Adair Gatlin.

Mrs. Koonce was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Thackerville.

Survivors include three daughters, Nadine Bond and Maxine Holder of Marietta and Ann Butler of Frisco, Texas; two sisters, Bertha Sims of Gainesville and Dovie Lee of Marietta; a brother, Ed Foster of Thackerville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Koonce was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie M. Koonce on August 23, 1982.

Interment was in the New Resthaven Cemetery, Gainesville, under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Pratt, Ben Pratt, Jim Butler, Michael Bond, Richard Barker and Terry Lemons. Honorary bearers included Mark Bond, Dr. Vergil Smith, Dr. Tom O'Connor, Steven Burrage and Rod Nunley.
