Services for Velma Mae Jones were conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Burneyville Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Whitley, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Jones was born April 4, 1915, at Rubottom and died October 6, 1994, in an Ardmore hospital at the age of 79. She was the daughter of John Henry and Bonnie Benson Barrick.
A resident of Burneyville since 1936, she married George Jones on January 21, 1939, in Love County. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.T. "Corky" and Koweta Cartwright of Burneyville; two brothers, Charlie Barrick and Frank Barrick, also of Burneyville; four sisters, Juanita Idell of Burneyville, Bessie Smith and Vivian Bone of Marietta and Lois Townsend of Oklahoma City; four grand-children, John Cartwright, Alan Cartwright, Joe Cartwright and Bryan Cartwright; and five great-grandchildren, Angela, Brett, Broc, Matthew and Choc.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband on September 16, 1989; three brothers, John Ray Barrick on September 9, 1968, Fred Barrick on April 29, 1983, and J.T. Barrick on February 4, 1984.
Interment was in the Burneyville Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Sam Barrick, Bill Smith, Larry Barrick, Jimmy Bone, Vernon Barrick and Greg Idell.
