A memorial service for Sammie Joe Harris will be held Saturday, December 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Leon Cemetery.
Born August 8, 1922, at Leon, Mr. Harris died November 12, 1999, at his home in San Diego, California, at the age of 77. He was the son of the late Fred and Mary Harris.
Mr. Harris attended school at Leon and Southeastern Oklahoma State College. He married Paula Hicks on September 24, 1945, at Sherman, Texas. Mr. Harris served in the Navy during World War II and retired from General Dynamics, traveling throughout the world.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Paula Harris of the home in San Diego; a son, Joe Paul Harris of Alaska; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Shepard of Arnold, California; and several grandchildren.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mittie Blanche and Ora Edna.
