Services for Roy Wayne Hartman Sr., 55, of Lone Grove, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 7, in the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, with the Rev. Kenny McMath officiating.
Mr. Hartman was born March 3, 1947, in Leon, the son of Charley D. and Carrie L. Tom Hartman. He died Thursday, October 3, 2002, in Ardmore.
Raised at Leon, Mr. Hartman was inducted into the U.S. Army November 4, 1966, serving in Vietnam in the Military Police from 1966 to 1967, then a Tank Squadron Leader from 1967 to 1968. His tank was bombed and he was medically and honorably discharged on September 26, 1968. Mr. Hartman was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal and Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Purple Heart.
After his return to Leon, he and Sonja Gradolph Holt were married on December 26, 1994, and they have made Lone Grove their home.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Jr. and Robbie Hartman of Ardmore, and Charles and Stacey Hartman of Marietta; a step-son, Thoams Gradolph of the home; two sisters, Vera Leibrock of Ardmore and Marie Sparks of Wilson; three brothers, Johnny Hartman of Wilson, Larry Hartman of Healdton and Sonny Hartman of Leon; four grandsons, Josh, Devin, Austin and Zack Hartman; and a granddaughter, Adrian Tidwell.
Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his father in 1985; his mother in 1971; two sisters, Mary Haymes and Lou Taylor; and a nephew, Mark Haymes.
Pallbearers were Michael Leibrock, Chuck Hartman, Larry Hartman, Gary Dale Hartman, Johnny Hartman Jr. and Matt Haymes. Honorary pallbearers were Jose Morino, Kenny Kilcrease, Billy Wayne Hooker, Vonnie Gentry and his nephews.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
