Services for James Conrad Hill, 85, were Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Emmons and Rev. Robert Griffin officiating.
Born March 12, 1909, in the Shady Dale Community near Marietta, Mr. Hill died January 4, 1995, in the Memorial Hospital of Southern Oklahoma, Ardmore. He was the son of James Madison and Clifford Rebecca Monroe Hill.
A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Hill married Jay Terrill at the home of Bro. J.W. Beard in Marietta on January 11, 1928. He was a farmer and retired as a self-employed painter and paper hanger. Mr. Hill joined the Eastside Baptist Church in 1965 and had served as Sunday School Superintendent and Trustee for 25 years. He was also a member of the Love County Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jay Hill of the home in Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sue Hill of Ardmore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rozelle and Bob Campbell of Marietta and La Juana and Danny Handschin of Milton, Louisiana; two brothers, Woodrow Hill of Irving, Texas, and Huck Hill of Winnsboro, Texas; five sisters, Neva Englehardt of Allen, Texas, Virginia Neely of Enid, Mary Taylor of Marietta, Betty Jo McCullers of Ardmore and Patsy Conley of Kingston; grandchildren, Barbara and Ronnie Norton and Jim Bob and Tabby Campbell of Marietta, Deborah and Jud Deaner of Augsburg, Germany, Michelle and David Peters of Flower Mound, Texas, Holli and Chris Anthony of Ardmore, Staci Hill of Edmond, Daniel Handschin, Gina and John Davidson, and Jason Handschin, all of Milton; great-grandchildren, Kristi Norton of Sherman, Texas, Shane Norton of Marietta, Ariel Deaner of Augsburg, Aaron and Telina Rudd of Ardmore, Wesley Peters of Flower Mound, and Barret Davidson of Milton.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, James Madison Hill on May 2, 1971, and Clifford Rebecca Monroe Hill on January 3, 1916; a brother, J.G. "Dink" Hill on April 30, 1981; and stepmother, Noma Jane Simon Hill on April 5, 1974.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Norton, Jud Deaner, Jim Bob Campbell, David Peters, Chris Anthony, Daniel Handschin, John Davidson, Jason Handschin, Shane Norton and Aaron Rudd. Honorary bearers were Men's II Sunday School Class and Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church.
