Services for William Raymond "Gip" Gipson were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Leon Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Dwight Hawkins.
Mr. Gipson was born September 26, 1905, at Burneyville, Indian Territory, the son of W.A. and Margaret Gibson Gipson, and died April 23, 1995, at the Love County Health Center, Marietta.
A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Gipson worked at Leon Public Schools for 13 years as a janitor and bus driver. Prior to this he was employed by Love County District #2. Mr. Gipson married Dovie Ione Trimble on March 11, 1940, at Jimtown. He was a member of the Leon Baptist Church and of the I.O.O.F. and Masonic Lodges for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dovie Gipson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billie John and Peggy Gipson of Burneyville and Bennie George and Rebecca Gipson of Faxon; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Interment in the Leon Cemetery was under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Pat Parker, Mike Parker, Sonny Hartman, Ott Ladner, Larry Hicks and Mike Mayes. Honorary bearers were L.O. Parker, W.A. McBride, Woodrow Kendall, Jack Holland and Raymond Brintle.
Donations may be made to the Love County Health Center or Lake Country Manor Nursing Home c/o Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.
