Services for Mary Myrtle Gibson, 100, of Marietta, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Hilliard officiating.
Mrs. Gibson was born July 15, 1900, at Wolfe City, Texas, the daughter of Paul Homer and Amanda Rains Cofer. She died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Ardmore.
She had lived in Love County since 1980, previously living in Littlefield, Texas. She and James F. "Jim" Gibson were married in 1916 at Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making quilts. She also enjoyed growing flowers.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Ross and Nancy Gibson of Waurika; a daughter, Eddie Jewel Hankins of Marietta; a sister, Gertrude Reagan of Tulia, Texas; six grand-children, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, infant Benita June Gibson and Doris Tomlinson; one son, R. Lee Gibson; a brother, Ray Cofer; two sisters, Mable O'Dell and Dolly Jameson; and two sons-in-law, Glen R. Hankins and Reed Tomlinson.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.
Interment was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in the Littlefield Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
