Services for Frank Griffin, 78, of Oswalt, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, in the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, Wilson, with the Rev. Dennis Holcomb and the Rev. Bob Cox officiating.
Mr. Griffin was born June 24, 1923, at Oswalt, the son of Homer Lee and Viola Jane Davidson Griffin. He died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Gainesville, Texas, following an automobile accident.
Raised at Oswalt, Mr. Griffin lived in this area until moving his family to Oregon in 1965. He and Billie Lou Cox were married March 24, 1941, at Wilson. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2002. The Griffins returned to Oklahoma several times, finally to Oswalt in 1982 to remain. After returning to Oklahoma, Mr. Griffin was custodian at the Greenville School for a number of years, retiring as head custodian from the First Baptist Church in Ardmore. He had also served as pastor at several churches in the area and also served as an evangelist.
Survivors include two daughters, Janie Pollard of Medford, Oregon and Diane Holcomb of Prospect, Oregon; an adopted daughter, Kimberly Murray of Oswalt; three son, Mark Griffin of Trail Oregon, Keith Griffin of Ronan, Montana and Billy Griffin of Butte Falls, Oregon; two sisters, Hazel Lynch of Mineral Wells, Texas and Lorene Sewell of Golden Dale, Washington; a brother, Edward "Duke" Griffin of Roseville, California; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Griffin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ellison on March 26, 2002, in the same accident; and two sons, Jerry and David Griffin.
Pallbearers were Larry Griffin, Lance Griffin, Christopher Holland, David Holcomb, Kevin Murray and Ron Cormany.
Interment was in the Oswalt Cemetery, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
