Services for Beeler "Pete" Flatt, 82, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, November 15, at Marietta Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev.
Glen Clary officiating.
Mr. Flatt was born July 7, 1918, at Leon, the son of George Washington and Lona
Lane Flatt. He died Sunday, November 12, 2000, in Mercy Health Love County,
Marietta.
He had lived in Love County most of his life and attended Leon School and also studied Appliance Repair at the Vo-Tech in Okmulgee. Mr. Flatt farmed until 1955 and worked as an appliance repairman. He was employed at Cochran's
Hardware in Marietta from 1959 to 1972, and then worked as a custodian at the
Love County Health Center in Marietta from 1972 until his retirement in 1997.
He and Ann Stofel were married August 19, 1953, in Gainesville, Texas.
A member of the Marietta Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mr. Flatt loved music and
being with people.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Flatt of the home; two sons and daughters-in-
law, Danny and Kolleen Flatt of Burneyville and Carroll and Frances Flatt of
Marietta; two daughters, Sonya Lambert and Cindy Flatt, both of Marietta; one
sister, Lou Hammonds of Richland Hills, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Flatt was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Will, Elmer, Nig
and Floyd Flatt; and two sisters, Beatrice Flatt and Viola Powell.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Ronald Rhoades, Joseph Chapman, Dustin
Flatt, Rickey Self, Bo Metcalf and Spike Metcalf. Honorary pallbearers were Don
Reed, L.D. Meeks and W.T. Warthen.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts
Funeral Home.
